In Watganj, South Kolkata, a woman was murdered, her body parts were chopped, put in plastic and thrown away. In this case, the police arrested victim's brother-in-law, Sudha Nilanjal Sarkhel on Thursday. However, Kolkata Police is yet to trace her husband.
The preliminary report of the autopsy has mentioned that 'the young woman was killed 18-20 hours before the body was recovered.
The police is still investigating the motive behind this murder. The woman has been identified as Durga Sarkhel. She is a resident of the port area and was missing for three days. Durga's body was identified by her family members. In 2007, she got married to Dhoni Sarkhel, a resident of West Port area. Apart from her husband, Durga has mother-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law in her house. The deceased also has a son.
On April 2, a mutilated body of a woman was found in three plastic bags in an abandoned barracks in Watganj. The woman's body parts were wrapped in three black plastic bags. The woman's severed head, legs and chest were found in plastic. But parts of his stomach, arms and legs were missing.
